Our Market's Journey
Danforth Food Market began in May 1986 with a simple purpose — “To create something unique, an experience unlike the typical supermarket, and offer products, flavours, and ingredients that were not commonly found elsewhere.”
What started as a single grocery store has grown over the years into five locations across the Greater Toronto Area. Over the years, we’ve expanded our selections and grown alongside the communities we serve, but the idea that started it all has stayed the same.
For many of our customers, Danforth Food Market has been a place to find familiar flavours, discover something new, and pick up the ingredients that bring a taste of home to the table.
Today, we offer a wide selection of Jamaican and West Indian groceries, from everyday essentials to specialty ingredients and familiar favourites such as Walkerswood’s Jerk Seasoning and Cool Runnings dry spice powder. At the same time, we’re proud to introduce new customers to the flavours and foods that have been part of Caribbean households for generations.
